Patrick Dearborn on community, service, and resilience in Naples: Q&A

What does Patrick Dearborn do in Naples besides sell houses?

Real estate is his day job, and he also serves as a fire commissioner for $500 a month after four unpaid years as a planning commissioner. "So we don't do it for the money." He says he got asked, and he has a hard time saying no when the work is standing up for people who need a voice.

Why does he call himself a walking, talking miracle?

His birth mother, Jane Sawyer, went to Washington, DC, in 1968 for an abortion, then left and placed him for adoption. "And this voice just said, get up and get out of here." He grew up in Annapolis with his adoptive parents, she found him through Ancestry around 2023, and they had about two years together before she died.

Who was Cole McGinnis, and how is Patrick trying to help that family?

Cole was nine, the son of Greater Naples Fire Rescue lieutenant Ryan McGinnis, and he died of a rare brain cancer after the family tried treatments insurance did not cover. "Every dollar goes to help them get out of the red." Patrick went to the funeral and says the money raised goes straight to the McGinnis family.

What causes does he keep coming back to?

He keeps coming back to kids, veterans, and cancer, and to a December toy drive for children in Immokalee with Pastor Arnie Coons. "Your only admission is a new, unwrapped toy". He says he loves helping kids and veterans, and he hates cancer.

What morning routine does he say anyone can start for free?

He gets up around 5 a.m., takes a three-minute cold shower, walks his dog barefoot on grass or sand, then reads a Bible app before the gym. "By the way, both those two things I just said are absolutely free." He says that quiet head start is how he tries to show up better for clients, employees, and the rest of the day.

Patrick Dearborn episode transcript

Call the police. You got it. Every car out there, the windshield is this big. How big is your rear view, man? Because what happened yesterday, what happened last week, don't matter. You look at the windshield because I got so much in front of me, like those roads. I got more road ahead of me for sure. They say that some people are called to serve. Patrick Dearborn has turned that calling into a life mission from parachuting with the 82nd Airborne Division to negotiating million-dollar real estate deals, from shaping Naples' growth as a planning commissioner to protecting its citizens as a fire commissioner. Patrick embodies what it means to give back to your community.

And recently, when tragedy struck one of our own firefighter families, when nine-year-old Cole McGinnis lost his battle with a rare brain cancer, Patrick was there rallying the community, raising funds, reminding us all that Naples takes care of its own. Today, we're sitting down with a man who proves that a life of service isn't just something you do, it's who you are. This is Patrick Dearborn, and this is his story. What y'all are doing, I can tell. Like, you're like me, you genuinely want to give back to our community. That offer for the girls is freaking awesome, man. That's a game changer. When I told Lauren about that, she was like, that's freaking awesome.

It's like, what do we get them? That's a great beauty pamper day, man, for a 10, 11, 12, 13-year-old girl in a mockly. Yeah, yeah. So give them an experience. We took them to a movie theater, a silver spot. I'd pay for the bus, and then we'd get them a popcorn and a soda. And most of these kids, this is going back to like, before COVID, they'd never even been to a movie theater before, there's no movie theaters out in a mock. Yeah, that's incredible. And yeah, they watch DVD movies on their TV, but it's different going to that movie theater. Having that experience.

And that's what we find, these young girls who are dealing with self-esteem anyway, and just to give them something that makes them feel pretty, look pretty, feel confident about themselves. So it's the least we can do, and if it gets up to 100, we'll figure it out. Over many, we can do it. But whatever, if there are a lot that you have, we'll accommodate it, because that's important. If it's more than like, let's say 20, we'll get some, that's not going to be inexpensive, right? That's not free. So we'll work on maybe even, who knows?

If it goes to 100, maybe Lauren Maxwell and I say, hey, we're going to do it together with you guys, and we can kick in some money to you that in turn, so I can now do 100 people. I mean, whatever it is. We have the facility, we have the people. Our people love to give. They love to do what they, I mean, that's what they're here for. They're givers, all of them. The Lorenzo Walker interns you have, man. They'd be great doing that kind of stuff too. Like, they're allowed to give. I don't know what they can or cannot do. They help clean up, and I'm sure, but are they allowed to wash hair? For that, yeah, because they're not paying customers.

Yeah, they could be a part of it. Yeah, everybody could. Yeah, we-- To win-win. Absolutely. I mean, that's, you're always up to something like that. You don't stop. But you're a Florida guy originally, right? You're a Lauderdale?

No, so born and raised in Apples, Maryland. OK, that's where it started. But then you went to the other coast. Nope, never been to the other coast, so I came down here. Never a lot of it. It's all good. I love going to the other coast once in a while. That's where the Hard Rock Guitar Hotel is, Madam Vice. OK, well, maybe that's what it was. Maybe there's pictures of you all the time. And Brecka's over in Miami a lot, so I like going to Mar-a-Lago. That's the East Coast.

That's like my second favorite place in the world. My happiest place on Earth is probably Mar-a-Lago. I just love being over there at Trump's house. What's that like? Just beyond. You can't-- you got to experience it. It's just-- it's just cool. It's like going to the coolest castle over in Europe and seeing the history. And Google played doors and just-- but it's the Trump family, and you got Trump stuff all over the place.

All these pictures, there's 23 rooms there, each hotel room, that you can only get if you're a member or the guest of a member. And I'm blessed to have multiple friends that are members there. I'm not. It's not cheap. A lot of these events are a $5,000,000 grant ticket. But if Trump happens to be there, which he is a lot, and you're there with Charlie Kirk, may he rest in peace. We're coming up. I got a couple of events coming up that I'll be at-- I'll be over at Mar-a-Lago. I've been invited to go. One of them is Turning Point USA. He does one event there a year. Obviously, it won't be Charlie this year. It'll be his wife. Trump will definitely be at that one.

That's December 4.

I got invited to go by a friend of mine here in Naples. It does a lot for them and donates a lot of money to that organization. And then there's one in December 16, which is going to be Gary Breca, is one of the featured speakers. You got Bobby Kennedy and Gary Breca, and you got General Michael Flynn, and you got guys like Tucker Carlson and Mike Tyson and Ted Nugent and Russell Brand. And I'm just giving you names from last year's show. I don't even know all the guests are going to have this year, but it's Star Studdum. And that event raises money for an organization that General Michael Flynn and his sister started-- I don't want to say the wrong name

But basically they work on stopping child trafficking and human trafficking here in the United States, which was part of that border crisis deal. Border crisis, I might say, is why Biden and them did it. I think they did import a bunch of voters. But through that evil and that stupidity was kids being undocumented where they were sent to, homes in the United States. They've already done some documentary stuff that proved that a lot of these kids went to people that were on sexual predator lists. Just started drilling. The problem with going down the rabbit hole, A, it never stops.

And B, it'll create a lot more sleepless nights, because once you start peeling back the curtain and seeing the real evil in this world, which there is. It's been evil in this world from day one.

Some evil shit's going on. So I love supporting organizations that my three big areas are. I love helping kids. I love helping veterans. And I freaking hate cancer. And I love supporting anything, because cancer freaking sucks. So anything that will help cure cancer and help people not die from cancer, like nine-year-old Cole McGinnis, we were talking about off camera.

He's a member of one of our family members from Greater Naples Fire Rescue, the McGinnis family. It just breaks your heart. So that's my three big pillars I like to support. I do more than that. We got Pace Center for Girls. We got Homes for Heroes. We got-- I mean, it goes on and on and on. And it never ends either. But hey, you do a lot. I mean, look, I just-- we were talking earlier. I love hearing the stories throughout our community during those tough storms. And all of a sudden, Roberts of Philadelphia is offering free shampoos and things for people that didn't have any power, didn't have any water. And we know how important women's hair is to them.

So all the women on my team-- and I'm blessed to work with many strong, powerful, amazing women.

Let me tell you, the only appointment they don't miss is their hairstylist, man. I mean, I'm talking. Thank God. They booked that out big time, right? Thank God. But they are-- they don't mess around with that. You can miss it. They can miss a wedding. They're not missing their hair points.

We had to close. The point where we had to close, we stayed open for as long as we could for those that wanted to work and those that chose to come to get their hair done because people had a choice here up until when we were mandated to close.

We got a bunch of hate for that because people said we're killing people and all that stuff that went on. But the day after we closed, we had a 94-year-old client who was banging on the door wanting her hair done. That was more important to her than anything else. She's like, listen, I need my hair done. I don't care about this COVID thing. I want to look good. Thank God it was-- that was important to people. So we need to get to open up that. Well, thank you for doing that. Look, man, you and I are locking arms really face to face for the first time. And I'm so thankful that you guys had me come in. I got a phenomenal, phenomenal haircut, man.

Yeah, but I think you got a great head of hair, man. You're looking good. But your staff-- you made me look this good. You should have seen me before I came in this morning rough. But your staff, from the minute I came in the door, I got greeted just a professionalism. And I'm a member of the Rich Carlton. And their philosophy is you treat each guest like you would a guest in your own home. I'm going to tell you, I'm not sure if that's your philosophy or not. But your people made me feel like I was a guest inside your home. And the guy that did my hair, I got the massage. I got the whole deal. I never get that at the places. That's really nice.

And then Dave did a great job on my hair, man. So thank you. Thank you for having me in here. Podcast Studio is awesome, man. Shout out to Zach. This is a cool little setup. And I went online and watched some of your previous stuff. I'm hopeful because you're really trying to spotlight people that do a lot for our community. And I'm humbled that you asked me to be here. But man, I want more people to know about this podcast show because you're doing some great things. We've been here 15 minutes. We've already talked about the toy drive. We've already talked about can we do things for families that are suffering and their kids are battling cancer.

So there's so much need in our community. We live in Freedom Town, USA. But there are people every day in need. So thank you for having me on here and thanks for all you all do to the community. No, it's an honor. And I really-- I've followed you and seen you what you do in our community. And you're a voice for many. And I appreciate what you do because sometimes I don't understand. I have to ask the question, why? Because you put yourself out there for people that-- I remember that time during COVID where we stayed open. And there were some vicious people out there. Vicious. They're vicious. They're vicious. But you've continued to do that.

We've continued to be a voice for people in many different ways for freedom.

In the political aspect of it, as a fire-- what's it called? Commissioner? Fire commissioner. We've got an April's fire rescue, you serve. You were on a planning board, April's planning board. Did you do that? I was a planning commissioner for four years, yeah. So you put yourself out there in positions where you're exposed and where people want to bite at you. I mean, they literally get vicious over stuff like that. Mostly complaints, for sure. Why? Why do you do that? That's a great question. Same reason why you did what you did during-- I think it was Hurricane Irma. People didn't have power, didn't have water. And what did you do? You have to be asked.

You have to be congealed or bribed. You say, you know what? Let's just offer people to come in here. They feel normal for 30 minutes. Let's give them a free shampoo. And when I heard that story in the community, I know to a lot of women, especially

You made them feel good in a tough time. It's no different, man. To be a realtor-- that's my day job, right? Fire commission pays $500 a month. So we don't do it for the money. The planning commission paid $0. And that required hours and hours of due diligence and reading through projects.

I'm going to sidebar for a second. We got this huge--

We have good news and bad news here in Naples, Florida. The good news is everybody wants to move here. The bad news is everybody wants to move here. And with that comes affordable housing issues. With that comes a ton of traffic issues that people complain about, even though pause for one second. Go drive in Philadelphia. Go drive around the DC Beltway. We'll drive around New York. That's real traffic issues. That's real traffic issues. We get pissy if it takes us-- instead of 20 minutes to get somewhere, it takes us 33. And we literally are ready to throw our Starbucks coffee out the window and start getting beat with a finger. Take a deep breath, chill.

We are blessed to live here. And that's the worst thing that's going to happen to us today. It's going to be a great day. Yeah, kidding. But I got involved in those things. I got asked to do it. And I'm one of those guys who has a hard time saying no. Whatever the cause, whatever the reason, if we're standing up for something, if we're championing the help of other people that need help that don't have a voice, if we're just looking at things and going, this don't make sense, if it infringes-- if something infringes upon our freedoms that I joined the military for-- I was with Joey Jones last night, as, from Fox News, who lost both his legs from the knee down.

The guy's the most humble guy in the world. He gets asked all the time, why do you do it? And his attitude is so positive because he looks out in the audience sitting on two prosthetic legs. And he feels like he's the most blessed guy in the world because your employees, your clients that come in here, we don't know what they're dealing with. Are they going through a divorce? Are they having marital issues? Are they having mental issues? Are they struggling with their kids? I mean, these kids these days with these damn phones and all the pressure they have put on them, on a daily basis, people are dealing with a lot of stuff.

So if you can be a bright light, we have to be bright lights in a dark world. And it ain't rocket science. Whoever you are in your world, alveos to me is a light in our community. Is alveos perfect? Am I perfect? Is Donald Trump perfect? Is the pope perfect? No. None of us are perfect. We're all imperfect and full.

But man, if you're given an opportunity and you have a voice to raise awareness for something, whether it be a cause to shine a spotlight on evil and some BS going on in our community, if I don't want some of these liberals down in the city of Naples that want to move our airport and build up condominiums and high rises and move the airport 50, 60 miles out to a mockly and cost taxpayers billions and billions of dollars and literally kill the momentum that we have here in the city of Naples, hurt your business, hurt my business, that I'm going to stand up and speak. And I'll do that anywhere someone gives me a light, a microphone, and a camera or an iPhone.

So I'll never be quiet. I'll never be silenced.

But there are a lot of people that have done so much more and laid down their life. As we were talking yesterday, Veterans Day, by these World War II guys, what those guys did, thanklessly, to go out and defend America and save the world from evil, save the world from tyranny. Listen, we owe it to those guys to not just lay down and let some of these knuckleheads-- not all Democrats are bad. Not all Republicans are good. There's evil out there, period.

DC is a swamp. And it's a swamp full of Republican rats. It's a swamp full of Democratic rats. It's no different here. We have a small population here who don't like Donald Trump. If they had their way, you and I would still be wearing masks. Businesses would still be closed.

And that's how they operate, man. They are vicious people. They want control. They want to stop airplanes flying over their house. When I was a planning commissioner, people come up

I don't want these airplanes flying over my house. And I'd say, OK, were they flying over your house when you bought your house? Yeah. Yeah, right. So now because this is the elitist mentality, I don't want that happening anymore. I want to move the airport.

Be damned the cost of the taxpayers. Be damned what it's going to do. And just it'll be a wrecking ball out there in the Monocline, out there in Everglades. And it'll kill Naples' business. They don't care about that. They want what matters to them and them only. If they had their way, they'd build a wall. Their anti-wall with Trump and our border, they would build a wall around Naples and not let anybody else in right now today. It would kill your business, my business, everybody's business. But they don't think that way. Now, they, whoever they are, they're not going to win.

Guys like you, guys like me, guys like Alfie, guys like our county commissioners, Dan Kowal, Chris Hall, you got Bill McDaniel, we got retired Colonel, Rick Lacastro. Those guys fight on a daily basis. And they govern as our elected officials, common sense, constitutional freedoms. But common sense has kind of gone the way of the Dodo bird. Like we're forgetting common sense. Trump is a common sense guy. Doesn't always communicate the best way. And I wish he would say things sometimes a little different, but Trump is Trump. But the panel and the cabinet he's assembled, they do things from a common sense perspective.

I guarantee you run your business and you take care of your employees from a common sense perspective, right? You care about them, you care about your employees, you care about their families, but you do it from a common sense perspective.

If you're going to lose thousands of dollars doing something, you'll be out of business in two months, you're not going to do that. No matter how nice it would be, because again, the rule of common sense. We need more common sense. And we've got a good little foundation here in Naples and Kyra County, Freedom Town, USA, but it's a constant fight, whether it be school board, and they want to indoctrinate our kids, whether they want to move our airport, whether they want to start pushing more of their liberal policies. That's why I'm going to keep standing up, speaking up, and probably pissing off a few people.

But God puts it on my heart, man, we're never going to be quiet. Yeah, well, I appreciate that. I mean, thank you for being that voice, because people don't realize

You don't have to, if I get on an airplane and there's a pilot who's exceptionally qualified, he's a fighter, but he's got so much training, but he's kind of an asshole in real life, I don't care. I don't care what his personality is. I want him to get me there the safe way and fly the plane the way it's supposed to be. His personality doesn't matter to me

But I don't care, I don't care. I don't care, I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I've got great friends that are gay. I don't care. It's so funny, man, one of my really dear friends, conservative aunt. If you don't follow him, you all need to go on Instagram and follow a conservative aunt, Anthony Romani. He is up in Cape Coral. He has a huge, he's a social media influencer. He's a huge backer of freedom. He's a huge backer of Trump and the MAGA movement. He also started a group called Gays Against Groomers because again, all my friends that are homosexual, they're all great people.

And I'm not gonna judge anybody else. I live in a glass house. I'll never throw stones. They stood up and fought for our kids when they were trying to groom our kids in schools, when they were doing, wanna do drag shows right down here at Cambria Park in front of children and guys like conservative aunt and other guys stood up and spoke out and they got attacked viciously. Aunt will make you laugh. Every show he does, he just has these little things he does and cracks people up. He's another one that I look to and look up to and go, man, he's speaking out and he gets threats and he gets challenged all the time. Trump loves him.

All these social media influencers, younger guys, man, the NELC boys and Steve will do it. And I can go on and on, Theo Vaughn.

And you may or may not know all those names, but my son knows those names and this guy knows those names, but they were huge in supporting Trump and standing up and what we're seeing across the country through Turning Point USA with the assassination of Charlie Trump, of Charlie Kirk. I'm seeing more and more young people go on the church, more and more young people opening a Bible and starting a youth Bible study, or more people starting Turning Point USA chapters, which all those chapters do is they give people a very safe environment to dispute issues and discuss issues and that's it.

No violence, no hatred, but the other side just tends to, even though they accuse us of it, they're the ones that are vile. They're the ones that want to get angry. They don't want to talk and debate the issues. They want to flip over Turning Point USA tables. They want to grab people. They want to hurt people. And look, man, the world's a tough place. It is not easy. It breaks my heart if there are any illegal aliens that are being arrested that have not broken any laws and are working hard in a mockly or the dishwasher at my favorite restaurant, or they're doing the landscaping at my house.

Listen, immigrants in general, whether going back to your ancestors or mine, are the backbone of America.

To me, this is to President Trump and anybody in a power of authority, I'm not a fan of innocent people, whether they're here legally or not, going and getting deported and going through the system. If you're a criminal and you're here illegally, I think the Trump administration is trying really hard to clean that up. As what always happens is there's always a couple bad apples ruin the whole bunch. There are innocent people getting caught up in the saying, and it breaks my heart. We gotta do a better way of saying, okay, we had a big sting operation. We arrested 50 illegal immigrants.

40 of them were criminals. Their records, they're gone. The other 10 that have not broken any laws, they just happened to be there at the wrong time. There's gotta be a way we can fingerprint them, log them, ID them, and get them on a path and say, look, you get to stay, you have to check in, whatever the system is, and we're gonna give you two years to work toward your citizenship, you must do ABC, D and E. And if they do those things in two years and they don't commit any crimes, they should fully be allowed to stay in this country and become citizens, just like any other immigrant did. So I'm praying that we can find a way to break the fix that system.

In the meantime, look at New York City. Mondami wins that vote because of the illegal alien, there's no voter registration, anybody can go vote. So that was their plan in every city was to bring in all these people that they lost when they were defunding the police, when they were Antifa, when they were Black Lives Matters and the George Floyd and all that BS. All the good people left, all the great cops and firefighters left New York, they all come to Florida. And we're blessed to have them all here. So Florida's getting stronger, we're getting the best, we're like an all-star team.

We're getting the best retirees, the best former firefighters, the best active firefighters, the best law enforcement. DeSantis was so genius offering cash bonuses to get the law enforcement guys to leave those blue run cities to come down here. But again, goes back to my earlier point. The great news is that everybody wants to be here in Freedom Town, USA. The bad news is there's some challenges that come with that, right? With traffic, affordable housing, et cetera. And our county commissioners are working through that. There's always a solution, we gotta figure it out.

Maybe it's a longer commute, where they're building houses more and more east, east, east and north, north, north, and you can see the traffic on I-75.

Look at California for 80 years, man. I mean, that state blew up. Didn't matter who the president was. Didn't matter Republican, Democrat. California had an 80 year run that real estate just tripled every couple of years. Everybody wanted to be in California from the hangout with Snoop Dogg and all the actors and live that California lifestyle from the Beach Boys, Sanga, Nevada, all the way up to Snoop Dogg and Katy Perry. But somewhere along the way, they got so liberal and so crazy run and jacked up taxes so much, they made it unaffordable to live there. Meanwhile, they're giving free healthcare to illegal criminal aliens and they weren't helping veterans.

So therein lies the issue. We don't want to become this California, but we're gonna have some growth issues and we're busting at the seams. And look, I'm not happy with, I don't want any more high end rental apartments in Naples. We got plenty. Let's focus on affordable housing. Let's focus on, can my firefighters from greater Naples? I want all my firefighters, all of our law enforcement to be able to live in the county they protect and serve. I got guys driving out from the East Coast, making that commute. I got guys obviously, a bunch of them coming from Lehigh Acres in Lee County and I'm like, "Oh, I'm not gonna go down here." It ain't easy.

I want affordable housing for school teachers. They're essential, good school teachers, not ones that want to indoctrinate and tell kids that they can be gender neutral, gingerbread men. You're an English teacher, you're a math teacher. Teach that. Leave politics out. Don't talk about Trump. Don't talk about Biden. Teach the subject you were trained and hired to do.

We gotta knock that out. So again, I can go on and on. Man, the battle fronts are many.

They're coming after Alfie still. All Alfie wants to do is make our county even better and greater.

He's done so much for our county. He's got this new Oaks Farms project coming.

You got right around the corner here, you got the new Aurora project with Metropolitan. We got the Four Seasons opening up any day. You got the rich residences coming right off Vanderbilt Beach Road.

There's just too much money pouring in here. The faucet can't be turned off. So we have to just make sure that we, through our county commissioners and elected officials, that we do a good job as the fire commissioner. We make sure that we fiduciary, stay conservative and don't overspend. Take care of the guys, take care of the men and women that are put on the uniform, firefighters, EMS and cops. Please absolutely God bless us. But we have to do that fiscally responsible with taxpayers' money in mind. Otherwise, if we don't do that, we're gonna have 13, 14, 50% taxes, just like California did. And we're gonna be the same boat they are in the next 20 years.

So we gotta stay free. We gotta stay pro law and order, pro first responder, pro veteran, pro patriotism.

And we have to learn, after all that's said and done, my hope and my prayer, I wanna find whoever the liberals are in this town that hate Trump, that think that ICE is a horrible organization

That don't want us going to church. I'm praying for those people. I wanna have respectable debate with those people. And let's see if we can't find common ground to figure out the solution so we can make our county even greater. Yeah, it's a slice of heaven on earth here. We had a great place here.

1977.

12 years old.

Barron College. It was the first four year BC, first, it just opened up in 78. That was the first four year class to go through Barron. That's awesome. Yeah, so my buddy Terry Dean played-- Oh, Terry Dean, he was the shit for us. He put arts on the map. Florida, he did. Yeah, he's a stud. I gotta say to him, man, go Noles, Florida State, all the way. My son is graduating from Florida State. Both Florida and Florida State are hurting right now. Football wise. Yeah, it's a tough year. They gotta write that ship.

All the Miami University fans, nope, I ain't having it. Yeah, the whole state really started off strong. Yeah, we're not finishing too strong right now.

So just from my own personal thing, so do you guys offer, I know you do a lot for our community and I'm pumped to work with you for this toy drive coming up. Super excited to help the kids in a mockly. If I didn't know you and I came in, or as a veteran and or all my first responders, do you guys do anything for them as far as a discount goes? Year round or just on Veterans Day or tell me anything you want my job? Yeah, so pre-COVID, we had it set up. So all first responders and all veterans were free services. COVID came, changed around for us. We are now back to open the doors up for them. Listen, we wouldn't be here without them.

I have such love and deep respect for first responders, men and women who serve in the military. It's the least we can do. So we offer free services, free hair services for them. We were open on Monday specifically for them to do that. That's awesome. And just, it's a privilege for us to be able to do that. That's the least we could do. I wanna make sure I get that word out because like I said, I mean, there are, like I was talking about the World War II guys. I mean, to offer those guys a free haircut for what they did for the world and for America, man, it's pretty cool.

It just humbles you when you're around those kind of guys in their 90s that are just so happy on life and they're just so thankful. And I'm sure I talked to them, a couple of them, it breaks her heart to see sometimes the direction the country's going in certain places, whether they're from Chicago or Philadelphia or New York. Man, if you're from those cities, those cities where your life, that's where your families grew up and your kids grew up. And to see them destroy those cities, man, like that, is just horrible. It breaks my heart. But again, we're living in Florida and Florida's becoming that state where everybody wants to come down here.

And as a realtor, I love that, right? I wanna sell them all houses, but we gotta be careful with the challenges of

I don't even know if I could afford a house here now. Yeah, it's-- I bought many houses here the last 20 years in that $400,000 range. I don't know what you can get for $400,000. I don't know what the solution is, but affordable housing, we've gotta work with builders

And our county commissioner are doing a great job. There are some solutions we can do to make sure that our firefighters and our cops and our law enforcement, our teachers and our dental assistants and x-ray technicians and our hairstylists have a town they can live in and afford to be in, as opposed to just paying rent. Lauren Maxwell has some great programs. Anybody looking to rent, don't do it. You wanna be, I want people to own. I want all your employees to have an ownership of this county and have their own place. I don't care how big or small it is. Once you're a homeowner or a condo owner, then you're vested, then you're all in.

What happens is you start pouring more and more, you raise your kids here, the county gets stronger, and then we're going back to this old traditional values that you and I grew up with, and I think we're gonna see a resurgence here in Kyrie County. I think Kyrie County leads the way. As Kyrie County goes, Florida goes. As Florida goes, America goes. So we had a saying during the COVID years with Alfie at See the Table during all of our Patriot talk shows. We called See the Table Ground Zero for Freedom Town USA, but it really was. Alfie spoke out first and kind of emboldened me to go

We don't have to sit here. We're as Americans in our constitution to question things, to debate things.

And if I own a restaurant or a business, and I don't want, if people wanna wear a mask, but if I don't, I'm not gonna force my employees to wear a mask if they don't want to. Maybe they have breathing issues, I don't know. So, but my point is, guys like you, business owners like you, that stand up for our community, that do so much and give back to our community, that at the end of the day, that and our beaches are what make Naples so special. I really feel like we've gotten the best of the best from around the country and the world. You're from Philadelphia. You came down with your family, you've been here now almost your whole life.

It's a great thing to see that we become the Noah's Ark of all these great people. Yeah, that's what it is. From all walks of life, all shapes and sizes, all skin colors, all religious backgrounds, and yet we're all here in Florida, we're all here in Kyrie County, and we're trying to live our best life. And I'm just thankful for you, for what you're doing. I love meeting businesses that do things the right way.

They prioritize the right things, which are their clients and their employees. And they also love giving back to our community for those in need. You do those three things, man, God's gonna bless you. Your business is doing phenomenal, but I'm sure there's room to even do better. And I hope people come check you guys out, because I mean that, not just for the podcast studio. As I told you earlier, I walked in the front door, and I felt like I was treated like a guest in my own home. And that's a great feeling. I'd love to have all my teammates on my real estate team act like that, because that's how people wanna be treated.

So congratulations on doing that, and congrats on your success here. I'm blessed. I'm surrounded by an incredible team of people who I love. And a couple of things you said that made me think, because we have a lot of young people who are, we have five generations that are working here, five generations of life, from 17 to 70. And so this was a big mix. And I don't ever tell people how to vote, but I educate them on what we have. I have two people in our company. One is, she was a pioneer from Russia. Her father was a Russian diplomat from the 80s. So they were pre, before the wall came down. So she knows what true communism, her family knows. Her mother's in Russia now.

Didn't see her for four years. I guarantee they're 100% voting for Trump in that bag of boobies, because they know. She knows, and then we have three sisters who came from Cuba, one who just got out last two years ago

And know what true freedom is. And know the difference between what free healthcare and free education is. They know it. So they educate me and our family of people on what those things are. The true meanings of when they say you're gonna get free healthcare, when they say you're gonna get free education, when they say, we're gonna have socialism, everybody's gonna be happy. They lived it, and they get to demonstrate and talk about it to me and to the rest of us. It's such a great thing for all of us to have

The ability to teach these kids what it was really like. So we had one, the one sister who emigrated here from Cuba had to come up through Nicaragua, and got here, and when she was here, she was detained. She had to be, it was the process. She did it the right way.

She said when she was in those four walls being detained, she was 40 something years old. She said in all her years of life, she felt more free as a prisoner in the US than all of her years in Cuba. That's frickin amazing. The way she was treated, the way she felt, the right she knew she had was a level of freedom she had never experienced before. How cool was that? It was beautiful. It was beautiful. I honored, loved and appreciated it. The more you hired her, man, that's awesome. We had her at our house for Thanksgiving that year to appreciate what we have and to appreciate her and her family.

Her sister just became a citizen through the process, and we had two people who just became citizens. That's awesome. That know more about our country than a lot of us do. The process is there. But why is it that these immigrants that come here from other countries love America more? Oh my gosh. That just shows you we fell asleep with a wheel, man. And we started in the schools with the indoctrination, and without paying attention, because we're all busy, we were working hard, going to church, paying our bills, drinking hard. The generation before me and my parents' generation, they smoked hard, they worked hard. There was no gym membership, no spies. That's right, no.

They worked hard. And that was smoking a slung. They worked hard, they played hard. But along the way, they weren't paying attention to what was, their kids were being taught in school. All of a sudden, you got tons of white kids with purple hair and pierced noses, wearing black hoodies and backpacks, throwing fire bombs and spitting on cops. But that's what happened. They've been indoctrinated.

And look, man, Satan is the great liar, right? So what's left is right, what's right is left, what's good is bad, what's bad is good. Satan's the great deceiver. So we live in a world where Satan's having a ball. He's working overtime, and he's having a ball, and he's laughing his ass off. We were never meant to have heaven on earth.

Heaven's next. The goal is we wanna get to heaven. How do we do that? We do that by being lights to others. And I wanna be a light, whether you're a Republican or Democrat, I don't care. I hate labels. People ask me, we go to First Naples Church, but I don't consider myself Baptist. I don't consider myself Episcopalian or Catholic. I hate labels. I hate that, oh, what are you and what are my? No, I'm all about, I believe in God. I believe in Jesus. I'm a walking, talking miracle. And I give thanks every day for those blessings.

I'm sure you feel the same way. And I wanna help other people. Tell me those stories of your immigrants and your employees here that came and their trials and tribulations getting here. We made things so easy that some of these people, something easily given is easily received. They didn't respect.

They almost have guilt about how easy their lives have been.

And that falls on their parents. That falls on the family unit, because I grew up where I made sure my son, I made my son do something every day he didn't wanna do. Whether it was take out the trash, make his bed

Get good grades in school, get a job, whatever it was, I made sure, and I love my son. My son's turned out great to graduate from FSU. But I made sure that he did something. I made him do something every day. He didn't wanna do, you know why? That's called real life. Yeah. I love you got these interns from Lorenzo Walker. I love these trade schools, man, we need more trade schools and less indoctrination in our high school system. Every kid can go to college, but somehow along the way, society said, if your kid doesn't go to college, you're a loser and you're a failure. The colleges blew that up because they're a business.

They wanted the 20, 30, 40, 50, 60,000 dollar a year checks. And a lot of kids go to college, they party, they meet people, they graduate, and there's no jobs. Yeah. So let's get back to those trade schools in Lorenzo Walker, and I love that when they're here and they're doing their internships here, they're doing everything from cleaning dishes to sweeping the floor. And that's what life is all about. You gotta start at the bottom. Yeah. And work your way up. That's how the military is. That's how I was raised in my house.

Anyway, we call it the old school. It's the right school. You were raised old school, I was raised old school. We need more of the old school, right school mentality. And I think we're starting to see that come back, not just in D.C., but across America. We're definitely seeing it here in Kyrie County. And again, how we go, if Kyrie County ever falls, I'm just telling you, Florida falls. You lose Florida, you lose America. Yeah. Sorry, it's a lot of pressure on us Floridians, but that's an absolute fact. Yeah. And I'm just gonna give a shout out to Byron Donalds, one of my longtime friends, just with him last Friday. I pray and hope, and please support Byron Donalds.

Not only is he from Naples, but he's gonna make a great governor. I think one day he'll make a great president in the United States. Yeah, he's a great man. He is a great man, his wife, Erica. So we're so blessed to have all these great leaders. I mentioned before, County Commissioner Dan Kowal, one of my longtime friends, retired Kyrie County Sheriff, law enforcement, US Army veteran, but he has a mentality of common sense.

You got Rick Dicastro, you got Chris Hall, you got Bill McDaniel. We have a great county manager. We have a great staff at County. We're blessed to live here. We're not perfect, man. There's a lot of people here. We got a lot of issues. We're working through all those. I hear builders complaining about Permaine and all that. Go to New Jersey, go to New York and see how long it takes you up there. So anyway, we're blessed. Do we focus on the negatives or the positives? Are we a light to other people? Hey, how you doing?

Or are we gonna slump forward, not say hi to anybody, and get wrapped up in our own dark world, and all of a sudden we're bringing everybody else around us now. We have a choice every day. That guy last night, Joey Jones, man, the Fox News guy, Marine combat veteran, lost with an IED, took out both his legs from the knee down. That guy was so humble, so happy, so blessed. He inspired me so much last night.

I felt like he and I became friends last night, just blessed to meet him. The Southwest for Young Republicans put this event on last night. It was phenomenal. But to hear a guy like that talk and how his attitude of gratitude and how he tries to brighten up everybody else in the room, everywhere he goes, that's motivating to me, inspires me to say, I can even do better. Yeah.,? Isn't that something when you see a spirit like that, somebody like that, they see their soul, it's just like, wow. Those World War II vets, Joey, I mean, you meet a combat vet that lost a limb. They lost more than that inside their soul.

Who knows what they're going through with, I got a lot of vet friends that struggle with PTSD and some mental stuff.

Suicide rate is super high. With firefighters specifically, breaks my heart. So we got to work on

When we say we spend money on our firefighters and our law enforcement and our veterans, it's not just giving them a handout. We want to give them a hand up. And if you have issues, man, and you're struggling mentally with stuff, we have to have a system in place where my firefighters can go and they can talk about it and get help, period. With no recourse, no judgment, and we have to do that. Mental illness is just rampant in our country from our kids and teenagers through college. And of course, certain professions, man, whether it be law enforcement and firefighting, tend to have really high veterans, very high suicide rates.

We got to work better, especially here in Kyrie County to make sure that all of our veterans, all of our first responders have their needs met and we have support for them wherever that is.

So what about you? How do you take care of you? Because you're always working for other people.

Where'd you grow up? I grew up in Annapolis, Maryland, born and raised. Wow, I got a gang sign back there off camera from Zach.

He threw it up, I don't know what this means, but I miss him cold.

Zach's awesome, I love Annapolis, man. Dad was Navy. Navy. Everybody loves sail boating. Pat Dearborn has made shocks in people, but Pat Dearborn likes to be different. I go against the grain. So if everybody's in the sailboats in Navy, of course I had to go to the army and had a real power boat. A parachute. (Laughing) But real quick, it all started real quick. So I'm an adoption, I'm an adopted kid. Love my mom and dad, my dad passed away last, talking about your father and my dad passed away last summer, 87th grade Dearborn. But my parents are my parents. It didn't matter whether they adopted me or my mom physically had me, they're my parents.

But I knew I was adopted my whole life and my birth mom was able to track me down. It's a long story, I won't go into it, track me down and her name is Jane Sawyer.

And she was not a believer. And in 1968, yes, Zach, I'm that old

She went to Washington DC, because that was the only place back then abortions weren't as commonplace as they are now, unfortunately. Thanks be to God that they were harder back then. That's a whole other issue. But as a walking, talking abortion clinic survivor

Born in Maryland, my birth mom went to DC to have an abortion, it was paid for. She got in the smock, got in the chair. She wasn't a believer. And she said that God spoke to her, a voice inside her and she had a panic attack.

And this voice just said, get up and get out of here. She got up and left, ran out and ended up putting up for adoption. So I mean, I came that close to not being here and being thrown into a trash can or whatever you do with aborted babies, it's murder. And thanks be to God, I'm here. And by the way, I'm never here to tell anybody, any woman what to do with their body. I'm a big believer in freedom. What you do with your body is your choice between you and God and your family. I would pray that you would talk to somebody about the pros of keeping that child and putting up for adoption if you don't wanna have it. I'm thankful that my mom, my birth mom did that for me.

So she puts up for adoption. She never sees me again. And she has a hysterectomy a year or two later where she can never have babies. So my birth mom goes through the rest of her life thinking that God punished her because she gave me up for adoption. So imagine carrying that around. Couldn't have any more kids. I have no idea who Jane Sawyer is. I'm living my life, love my mom and dad. Life is good. And then we ended up moving down to Florida here, going on close to 25 years ago, right before my son was born. So 22, 23 years ago. And this lady, Jane Sawyer, finds me through.

I did ancestry.com because my son was doing a school project and they were working on ancestry and making crests of your family crests. He's like, "Dad, what are we, what are we?" I'm like, "I don't really know, man. I don't." So your mom,. So anyway, my mom and dad, my mom and dad heard about that. So they got us the ancestry DNA kits and we did it. And it came back and we're boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And do you wanna find other members? No, never, never give another thought. That was it. This lady did it, found out I was a match. Did her research. What connected you to ancestry? Yep. Wow. She called me one night back in 2023. No kidding.

And then the story gets crazy because she was almost, she was fighting cancer. She only had one sister who had no siblings. My birth mom, Jane, couldn't have any more kids. So it was just me. And she spent her whole life trying to track me down. She hired a private investigator. Meanwhile, we both live in the same town. I lived in Annapolis. She lived in Ocean City, Maryland. And I ended up getting a job after the army. I went to college at Frostbrook State University to go Bobcats.

And every summer we go down to the beach and we were lifeguards on the beach. And she worked in a building that I would go into and get a sandwich. Oh my gosh. And so we crossed paths. The stories were crazy how God works. She finds me, tracks me down.

It gave her such, look, it was great for me. But God made that connection happen because she needed peace of mind and know that I had turned out okay that what she had done was the right thing. She didn't know if I was in prison or I was dead. So for her, and look, I got a lot of issues, okay? So it wasn't a perfect life. And I had to tell her that. She's like, "I'm the most wonderful person." I'm like, "Jane, mom, no, I got issues. I ain't perfect, but I'm here and I'm thankful to her and to God for letting me be here." Wow. Long story even shorter, she ended up passing away about a year ago and we got about two years together.

I got to send her a Mother's Day card and flowers for two years, which for her, she just melted her heart. So in two years, I was able to love her and show her how appreciative I was for 50-some years of life because I wouldn't have been here without him. So there'd be no, my son, Cooper wouldn't be here. Obviously I wouldn't have been married. I wouldn't have my daughter, Melody, and my grandkids. So it's a whole domino effect. You start thinking about how deep that is. Life is so precious.

I'm not telling anybody what to do with their body, but when someone gets pregnant, man, you should at least talk to other people other than Planned Parenthood and see what options are out there because you could change the life., and unfortunately, we got 65 million abortions in County. I don't know how many, I don't know how many Michael Jordans and popes and leaders and mothers and sports superstars and priests and hairstylists go on and on. Great cops, great firefighters are in that 65 million. But I guarantee we lost, every one of those lives lost is sad. So 65 million.

So yeah, I'm sitting there right now, man, this cool fricking barber chair on this cool podcast as a walking, talking, living miracle. And I believe that in my heart. So it goes back to what you asked me and what motivates me. Again, I got my own issues, but what fires me up, that fire inside of me is, God did that for a reason. So I'm trying every day to get better. It's an uphill battle. Same thing, man. I'm trying to get better. I'm trying to get better. It's an uphill battle. Satan is rocking and rolling. I always have that angel on my shoulder, but the devil inside my head.

So it's that constant battle we all face. You got to let go, let God. I give thanks all the time. But that's what motivates me to want to help other people is I feel like God blessed me to do that. I owe it to do what I can do for other people. Make sense? Yeah, absolutely. It ain't easy, man. I mean, it is a challenge to do the right thing even when nobody's looking. We're trying. We're trying every day. We had a conversation, a staff meeting last week, and we were talking about integrity. It just came up. We were having this conversation about what integrity is, and we were kind of defining it amongst our group to see what it is to people.

And the youngest girl in the room, 18 years old, said, "It's doing the right thing when nobody's looking." And I blow my heart so much. That's what I said. Yeah, it's like, "How beautiful is that?" God bless her.

It was refreshing and warming to hear that. That's awesome. That was her--

She's got some great employees here, man, again. But it doesn't just happen. A bad business, I guarantee you. Look at the top, and it works its way down. I was a long time suffering Washington Redskins fan. I know you're Eagles. Boo. They'll still always be the Redskins to me. I'll always call them Redskins. I never call them the Commanders. But we had Dan Snyder.

I don't know him personally, but based on the factual data I've seen, he did some things that were pretty shady. Yeah. And he wasn't a good owner. He was rich. He threw money at the Redskins, but they never succeeded because I think from a top down, it was bad ownership. Yeah. We get rid of Dan Snyder. We get a guy that used to own the Philadelphia 76ers. He's got some Philly ties, our new owner. And last year, we make a run, and we end up playing the Eagles in the NFC East Championship. Yeah, that's a game. And y'all spanked us. We actually beat y'all right around Christmas time. That's crazy. It's the game, ever. But my point is, it started at the top, right?

So no different than America, no different than Florida, no different than our county. We're only going to be as good as our leadership that we elect.

Elections matter. Local elections matter. Who you hire as your fire commissioner?

I'm sorry. Who you vote for as your fire commissioner? Who you vote for as your school board? Who you vote for as your county commissioner? Who you vote for in the city of Naples if you're paying attention? Who you vote for there matters because the city of Naples, in my opinion, is still a mess. It is run by some, there's some fanatical crazy. Let's build a wall around Naples, not let anybody in mentality. Let's move the airport. Let's not let anybody renovate their new homes. They were damaged by storms. Let's not let them make their homes bigger and better. That's infringing on people's personal freedoms, man. And I'm against that.

So no elitist, no city councilman has the right, I don't think, to tell me what I can do or not do on my property. So we, but we're, it's a constant battle. Even here in red, Kyra County, Freedom Town, USA, we got battles. So, and we've got a few of those liberals that snuck in here too, under the wire during COVID, right? You know who you are. So it's okay. I want to live with you. Let's find out common ground, but we're not going to let you turn this county blue. We're not going to let boys and girls locker rooms. We're not going to let girls in boys bathroom. We're not going to do, we're not doing it. So period. And the story.

And if they ever try to do that, they can do that when they can pry my registered concealed carry gun from my cold, dead hand, period. And the story, but we have to have that mentality because COVID could have easily gone where we're being locked up. Pat Dearborn would have been arrested like Alfie for not wearing a mask for walking. They try to shut our beaches down. They ruined small business owners here and it's all fear driven, not fact-based. So again, we need faith over fear. We need light over darkness and we have got to keep finding common ground. What we can agree on and let's find some middle ground so we can keep things working, man.

I'm respectful and tolerant of all people and we've got to be more of that mentality. You come at my kid, you come after kids, you want to hurt kids. You want to, you want to, do evil stuff. Then that's a different conversation than I think we throw the law at you and if need be, we forcibly remove you from our community. Other than that, we got to find more common ground. We got to keep our community safe. We got to support our first responders. We got to support and make it affordable for all essential people, whether that be hairstylist, whether that be teachers, whether that be nurses, cops, firefighters.

I think the term essential personnel, is important and we have to make sure that people can afford to live here. and that we don't, and that we're smart about our growth with the roads and the traffic management and all of that. And that is a tough challenge and I'm praying every day and support every day. That's why local elections matter, who our county commissioners are, who our school board commissioners are. So who are fire commissioners are because I oversee a $50 million plus annual budget and that gets paid for by millage rates by the taxpayers.

And I want to do everything I can possible for our firefighters and our, and their families, but we have to do it from a position of conservative fiscal responsibility. And that's why I ran for fire commissioner and I run again next year, man. So four years is almost up and I'll be running again next year. I have to ask, what were you that spirit in you? Was it always like, what were you like in high school? Hyperactive.

My mom will tell you, by the way, shout out to my mom, Helen Dearborn, three time cancer survivor. She has a glass eye. She's lost her eye and both breasts. my mom's a fighter man. She is so fricking. God bless her. God bless her. You did a good job on him. She did. And she wasn't easy, man. She, we were raised old school and I'm so thankful for that. And mom's up in North Carolina and assisted living. My dad passed away a year ago. She's still doing great. She's writing poetry. she's fighting the good fight, doing things at church and volunteering.

But when I was a kid, I was a super hyperactive kid and they tried to get my mom to put me on Ritalin and my mom wouldn't do it. And I'm so thankful, we had this, our society now is, there's an issue. Throw a pill at it. Take a pill, take a shot. Let's mute ourselves. Let's medicate ourselves. And that's goes back to how unhealthy we become as a society. So thank you, mom, Helen, for not putting me on Ritalin. Let me, I think they ended up putting me like, I had like an extra recess. I'm not kidding you with, with others. There were special needs kids and I knew they were trying to tell me, I talked too fast. I had to go see a speech therapist.

I was super hyperactive with ADD.

They feel all these things at me, but in my mind, I'm like, I knew God, let me know I was, I was fine. So that energy came from a young age, just the way God made me. And I've always been that guy up at 5 a.m. No alarm clock. I try to go to bed by 9 30, but if I'm out past that, you're going to see me. But I'm an early to bed, early to rise, kind of a farmer mentality. And that stems from the military and the way I was raised back to me. If you get up at 5 a.m. And you get a jumpstart on emails and texts, get my workout in before 8 a.m. And the phone starts ringing. I'm already got a three hour head start on everybody. Yeah.

That's why I highly encourage people the earlier you get up, start that day. How about you? Are you an early morning riser? I'm becoming more of one. My wife is completely and she's like, there's just so much that happened. She, it's just early. She's like, oh, very much so. My life is not the same in a great way. I waited a lot of years to find the most incredible soulmate. And I'm so blessed. She has a tremendous influence, but I am turning into more of the morning because like, I see there's a lot that can get done in those quiet hours in the morning. He could do a lot before the world is going yet. And let me tell you what you do. So I get, I'm not. So I follow.

I'm big into biohacking. Okay. Let's, let's talk about the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the Nar Drigetic Uptold. the, the, the, the!! And then the world comes again, the world transforms into a now, to become a head mo automator, that's what it is now. So? Still going to find yourself. No, there was church. There was church. Church was always a big deal, right? That was your Sunday.

Anyway, so biohacking, so you mentioned these early mornings. So if you don't follow a guy named Gary Brekke, the ultimate human, one of my best friends for going over 35 years, he's really making a huge impact in the world by trying not only to make America healthy again but make the world healthy again. And he's got some really basic things that he didn't invent. But man, if you wake up first thing in the morning, you can, whether you see everybody doing cold plunges, right, cold plunge, cold plunge. I don't own a cold plunge. I'm sure Gary gave me a hell of a deal on one. But what I do do is I can go in my shower and take a three-minute cold shower.

It's not, doesn't feel good. It's a little uncomfortable. But I'm starting my day the first thing I do. At five a.m., I get up.

I walk in that shower. I turn on cold. I get in there for three minutes.

A, I'm clean. B, I'm awake.

And you're burning, your bodies, to make your body uncomfortable is actually a healthy thing. I get out of that three-minute shower. I walk outside with my dog. I walk about five minutes on the surface of the earth called grounding. By the way, both those two things I just said are absolutely free. Cold shower, walking out barefoot on the surface of the earth. Not on concrete, not on asphalt, not on gravel or stone. Walk out on grass, walk out on the sand and ground. That's so good for your body.

And then the third thing I do, I come in and I take some, there are some products. I take some H2 tabs in a glass of water. I put a scoop of Perfect Aminos, electrolytes, pinch of Baja salt with all these 70-plus minerals in that thing, essential minerals. And I chug that thing. Now my body's hydrated, I'm good. I get headaches once in a while and all that. I never get this anymore, ever. I don't have to pound a cup of coffee before I get going, that cold shower does that. Then I go sit down. It's quiet time, you mentioned quiet time. And you can meditate, I read my Bible app, I get my day set, and then I go to the gym.

But my point is, by 7.30, 8 a.m., I got a jump start on my day. And I don't know how I can operate without doing that, man, because to me, it's essential. And none of those things I talked about, other than the tablets and stuff, it doesn't cost any money. So if anybody's interested, I was talking to your guy, Dave, who's lost a bunch of weight. I love seeing people on the health journey because we owe it to ourselves to be the best we can be. You owe it to not just your wife and your family. You owe it to your employees, you owe it to your clients to be the best you can be. Well, the best you can be is physically, mentally, and spiritually.

So spiritually, I gotta read the Bible app. I gotta go to church.

I'm not telling anybody, I don't even officially belong to a church. We attend First Naples. Pastor Alan gives a great message. I watch it online, or we intend in person. But find a thing, even online, that you can watch on Sundays to listen to a sermon and hear the word of God and to hear the Bible and to get, grow stronger spiritually. Mentally is real easy, man. We have got to work on ourselves mentally all the time. And if you wanna go to a therapist, go to a therapist. You wanna go to your priest, go to your priest. You wanna go to your friends. I attend a weekly Bible study. It's a therapy session. I get around other guys like me and you.

We're all broken and flawed. We share stories, we share the gospel, we share the Bible, but we talk to each other, fellowship. And it really strengthens that. That's the mental aspect. The last aspect of it is physical, right? You gotta work out. I don't care if you can't afford a gym membership, man. There's nothing stopping you from doing dips on the edge of your bed, from doing pushups, from doing pull ups, from curling a gallon of milk or a gallon of water in your arm. Everybody, man, woman, child, should work on being the best of the best them they can be. And when you do that, you're a better boss. You're a better husband. You're a better employee.

You're better to your clients because now you're hitting it on all three cylinders, man, physically, mentally, and spiritually. And again, I don't do a lot of things right, but I focus on those things and that morning routine. And that really helps me get me through my day. And my energy levels are great. I tend to want to take a nap every afternoon or between two and three. I get my little power nap in if I can with my schedule of work and real estate, but yeah, man. Nothing like a workout. That's it. The pain of a workout, I actually, I don't love working out, but I know when I do that the pain of the workout is better than any pain. It dissipates all the pain of life.

When I'm finished with that, I can-- You're talking about doing something you don't want to do. You're making yourself be uncomfortable. When you do that, it better prepares you to deal with the stuff at work, the stuff with clients, and the stuff at home. I'm telling you gotta make time, man. I don't care if it's 30 minutes of a walk. If you got up every morning and went for a walk, you got up at 5 a.m., 6 a.m. And that same routine I talked about. I'm not sure what time you come in here, but give yourself that, let's say you gotta be here 8 a.m. So you wanna get up at 5.30 from six to eight your time.

Go out for a walk. It's nice and cool out now, but even when it's hot out, it's never hot at 6 a.m. Right, yeah. A 30-minute walk every day will do wonders for you, man. That's free. No gym membership required. Yeah, especially the most beautiful place in the world. 1,000%. Which is living paradise. And by the way, I gotta say, make time to go to the beach. We all get caught up in our jobs. I know, we don't. I always make time to go walk that beach. I found a shark's tooth on the ritz walking towards Pelican Bay. Second shark's tooth I found in 20 years here. It's like my good luck charm. I felt blessed, but I walked that beach.

I'm grounding, I'm getting that first light. That early morning sunlight is so good for you, man. Gary Brekka, the Ultimate Human, teaches you all this stuff. And I follow guys like Jeff Delaney here in town. I'm from the T Clinic USA.

I see him personally because we're getting old, man. I mean, I'm 57 now, so I wanna make 57 and 58 and 59 and 60s great again. So you need to talk to the experts about that. So just like if you're going to sell a house, don't be able to do it themselves, a safe commission. Hire a professional. You wanna take care of your body? Hire a professional. Go see somebody that has a doctor that can look at your blood work and tell you exactly what areas you need to focus on. And I'm telling you'll be a better person. And if all of us were better versions of ourselves, there'd be a lot less fighting. There'd be a lot less divorce. Be a lot less drama.

Be a lot less abuse and crime if we all try to be the better version of ourselves. It ain't easy. I may leave here right now in that devril rush saying, "Hey, let's drive out to the casino." I guarantee that voice is gonna say it. That's a vice. I love going out to the casino. I love, I do. But I gotta work on that and say, the angel on my shoulder is gonna speak to me and say, "Hey," and the devil in my head. You know what the distance is between heaven and hell?

About 18 inches from here to here. So am I thinking with this or am I letting Satan talk to me in here? So I'm not, by the way, don't freak out. If anybody sees this, I'm not gonna go to the casino today. It's a Wednesday. We got work to do.

But my point is we've all got that angel on our shoulder and devil in our head. Which one are you gonna listen to? Yeah, 100%. I have to feed my mind with people like that, but with podcasts, with books that are filling that space. Otherwise it gets filled with negative self-talk, internal dialogue, it's destructive and not healthy. No. By the way, we all go through those periods. Turn the news off, man. And I'm talking about turn off Fox News, turn it all off, Newsmax, CNN, MSNBC, ugh. Turn it off because it's just negative stuff.

If there's a channel out there that does nothing but shows all the good in the world, which there are thousands of things daily of good that happens, but that's not headline worthy. That's not eye-catching worthy. It's not social media worthy. Turn that negative stuff off, go outside, go for a walk, call somebody you ain't talked to in like five years out of falling out with over COVID and call them, I'ma say, I'ma think about you today. Shoot them a text. Do those things. Smile when you walk in to your clients, which you all did a great job of. And I'm telling you right now, we can turn this around and make the world a better place. And that's just not podcast talk.

That's life, that's real deal. 100%, that's the whole point of having this conversation with you of recording it and displaying it for the world is to like shine a light on more of that rather than the train wrecks of the day. Yeah, the things that are sucking the life out of people. When we shine light, darkness has nowhere to go. I mean, there are no, I'm reading a book right now with our men's group at See the Table. And by the way, you're invited to come. So we meet every Tuesday upstairs, See the Table

7.30 to 8.30.

It's a men's group. It's not a Bible study group, even though we do research some scripture, but we read a book and we read a book now called Fighting the Shadows. The shadows in men's life, whether it be porn, whether it be adultery, whether it be strip clubs, whether it be casinos, whether it be online gambling, and a list goes on and on. But those are things that we can put on a good face. I mean, look, you're seeing the best Pad Deereborn you're seeing right now on this podcast. How's Pad Deereborn gonna react if somebody flips me off or takes my parking spot outside the parking lot? Am I gonna react positive or negative?

So we have to make sure that we're trying to be our best self. You expose light on all that. There is no darkness. We turn the lights on this room. There's no darkness at all. There may be a shadow back behind that box, right? We'll pull that box out. Let's expose that shadow.

I gotta quit living in shadows and live in the light. And if I do that, no matter what I say, no matter what words come out of my mouth, my actions will show people, okay, I wanna follow that guy. I want that guy to be my realtor. I'm gonna vote for that guy to be fire commissioner

Because I'm living in the light. That make sense? Yeah, 100%. It ain't easy. Shadows are very attractive sometimes, man. I mean, let's just go back to the health. It is so hard to drive by when I'm starving, drive by a McDonald's or a Culver's or a Chick-fil-A. I wanna grab a big sandwich and a drink and a fry.

But if I can just drive 10 more minutes, I can get home and maybe eat a salad or some carrot texture. I can reheat that chicken in my fridge. But the point is we have those choices.

I could eat one chocolate. This is satisfy that craving, not 18 chocolates. And by the way, I struggle with that too, but I got a sweet tooth, man, like nobody's business. Yeah, yeah. Love my ice cream. I'm with you there. I'm looking forward to January 1st. I took this year to say that I'm gonna go no sugar. Wow. Not for really health, well, health too, but I wanted to see if I could do it because I was getting this little addiction. By the way, sugar's a drug, man. It is. I didn't realize how much of it is. Herbal gummy bears had become like this thing for me that I just had just needed to have. You're addicted. I am 10 and a half months in.

So I went to two months, six weeks to go. No sugar. No sugar, no artificial sugar. Let me shake your hand. Yeah, so far. I don't know if I can do that, dude. That's crazy. Yeah. Did you say give up air to breathe or sugar? I'm not kidding you. I would have to think about it for a minute. Yeah, I wanted to see if I could get through it. And it's amazing how many times, like how many moments there are where I go, what would it hurt just to have one? And we were in St. Bart's and St. Bart's has, all the Herbal gummies are imported from Europe and there's this display of these beautiful gummies and I'm just looking at this thing like an addict.

Like I was literally looking like, wow, this is happening.

And just to have the restraint to just, what if I just had one? Good for you, man. Just one. So I'm too far in now to even think about that. But I'm looking forward to it. Let me ask you, no sugar, your mental clarity. It's been dramatically different, yeah. I've always heard that mentally. The no sugar is huge. Yeah, it's really had an impact. It's like medicating yourself, man. There's nothing good that comes from that sugar, the creamers in our coffees.

I'm assuming you're doing coffee black. Black, straight up black. Espresso. What'd you do before?

With coffee, I always said espresso was my bad thing. Okay, okay, okay. So you got one of your bad things. I love the creamers, man. And now they come out with this creamers have so many cancer causing carcinogens too, but also so heavy with the sugar. Well, even oat milk, they say, "Oat milk's all sugar." People don't realize that, but they think they're being healthy with oat milk. It's like a refined form of sugar, and it looks like cream. Well, good for you, man, that's awesome. You're inspiring me. I mean, look, I know I need to stop. And Gary tells me all the time, he's off sugar, and it is a game changer from a mental clarity perspective. So good for you.

Yeah, it was just a go-to for me. It literally was just like this thing when I get bored or just frustrated. Just grab a bag of these things. Yeah, yeah. You've motivated me now. So now on the air, I'm gonna make a pledge right now. I'm gonna try to go 24 hours, no sugar.

If you never hear from me again, man. (Laughing) Good for you. Call the police.

(Laughing) Now, I think I can make it 24 hours. I'll try, look, you start 24 hours first, then you go two days, then three days, and then all of a sudden it's 10 1 1-year, huh? Yeah, it'll be a year. Now you're gonna go back to it, or you're gonna stay off?, I was thinking about that. I was like, I don't know if it'll satiate anything., like, really, I don't have that need anymore. I was thinking like it would be cool, January 1st, to have something out. But then I'm like, I know how bad I'm gonna feel. My body hasn't had that, and then I go for that. So I'm kind of, yeah, I've been contemplating that. I'm just working out. But I just, yeah, it's been something that

That I just wanted to see if I had the willpower for it. Really, that was more than anything, but I also feel good from it. But I, yeah, it's always, I mean, and at this age, I turned 60 last year.

Good for you, bro. Seems like everything, it is such a struggle with

I work out a lot, and I eat clean, but man, the pounds are just tough to come off. I mean, I do a lot of CrossFit, and I just-- Oh man, love that stuff. As soon as I hit that age, it seemed like it was tough to-- So then, so you, 100%, so what do you do? You have to go see a professional. I have to. I'm gonna recommend, again, follow Gary Brekke and the Ultimate Human

And I would go see Jeff Delaney, TE Clinic for Men. It's designed to make men great again. Men specifically, let's say 50s to 70s, and they'll do blood work on you. Dr. Bose is their doctor, and they will write up a program for you that I guarantee you will be a game changer. Because you're doing everything else right, but you're still fighting that 60-year-old thing. It's okay to get a little bit of help.

There are some really cool natural peptides that make your body produce more good stuff. That's one avenue. So again, I would recommend Jeff Delaney for sure. Yeah, I will do that for sure. I'm a client of Jeff's at TE Clinic USA, man, and that was a game changer for me about a year ago. So all these things, man, it all matters. But I love that you're doing the no sugar, you're working out consistent.

That's awesome. Well, I wanna be around, my wife's 20 years younger than me, so I wanna be around. Wow. She's a brilliant doctor, she's beautiful, and she's my soulmate, and just gave me life in a way. I never knew I could have it. At the gym. Wow. I met her at the gym. She was working at Arthrax and going to the CrossFit gym, and we actually met under the bar. What's CrossFit? Real fitness. That's the one I, that was the OG one. Yeah. Over off of Mokley. Yep. Yeah, got any TJ, and TJ O'Connor, and Joey Sandoval. Yeah, yeah, the original. I was one of the original 6 a.m. crew there. Is that right, yeah.

My problem was, dude, being that military background, I couldn't, there was a couple girls in there that were badass, one of them competed on a national level. Oh, Talena, probably. Yes, the Spider Monkey, but I could not stand getting beat by anybody, especially a girl, sorry. So I would literally kill myself, so I kept aggravating my back with the rope climb, the entire flips, slinging sledgehammers, and all that crazy stuff. I loved all that, but I kept hurting myself, man, so I had to adapt and say, my body is not that body anymore like I was when I was 19, 20. And well, kudos for you, man, that crossfist, no joke.

Yeah, I scale everything, but she's got the same problem you had there with crossfist. She's so competitive, she was a gymnast, that when she goes there, she goes, oh, wow, and over the top, she has no middle gear, because that competitive spirit comes in her, and then she sometimes ends up getting hurt, because she just goes through too much with that. But I know my limits there, I have to scale things. Are you all morning workouts or afternoon? We have an afternoon crew that we go with. Isn't that cool? Yeah, we have a crew there. It's what it is, really, we keep each other on track. It's awesome. Yeah, I love that. We're good for each other, that's awesome.

My crew, and then we have a great Saturday and Sunday workout together, we do a team workout in the morning, Sunday mornings, it's the soul crusher, the Sunday workout that they make up. It's just a great one where you're pretty much spent for the rest of Sunday, but it's well worth it to go through, so we have a good time with that. Good for you, bro, that's no joke. Yeah, we get that in there. During the week, first couple days of the weekend. Okay, so weekends, you crush, and then you take your little break. A couple days, yeah. You gotta have your body recovered, man. But for my mental well-being, I really have to do it.

When I don't do something, my game is off, I'm just not there. So again, follow Gary Brekka, follow the Ultimate Human, watch his podcast, I recommend the one with Joe Rogan's Grey, he's got four of them, but he covers every topic. Some are female related, some are male related. Gary is, I'm 57, Gary's 52, 53, but he talks about us being in our 50s and how, I mean, I can tell you, I mean, this is the best shape I've been in my life, and I think 60s can even be better, but it's okay to go talk to a professional like a Jeff Delaney here at T Clinic USA and talk to them, so.

And I gotta give a shout out to Goated.

This is the shirt I'm wearing right now, Goated.

But Goated is, they make golf shirts, they make all kinds of stuff, goatedgolf.com and restdaygolf, but restday.golf, but they make great gear, but these guys, the dad, Coach V, Pastor Van Duzer, has been the mentor of me for a long time, he runs our men's group on Tuesdays, you're invited to come 7.30, 8.30, come one time, you'll frickin' love it. Tuesday morning at 7.30, 8.30, bunch of great guys and business owners, you'll probably recognize some of the faces in there. That's morning, Tuesday morning? Every Tuesday morning, upstairs to the table. Okay.

But they started to tell Goated, because look at Tom Brady, Michael Jordan

Muhammad Ali, Wayne Gretzky, they're all the goats, right? Tom Brady's the goat, Michael Jordan's the goat. Well, Goated is the greatest of all time

Who made all those people and is God. So, Goated has a really cool spirituality to it. It's a spirituality-based company. They do a lot of golf stuff, they do pickleball stuff, but I just love their gear, I love their shirts, I love their golf shirts and all that stuff, so I'm gonna, what size shirt are you? Large, probably. Yeah. So, I'm gonna get you, they got some really cool ones. I'm gonna load him up and get you a couple

Red State Golf and some Goated stuff. Yeah, cool. T-shirts and golf shirts. Once you wear it, I'm telling you, like man, these are really nice. I'm actually talking with them now about creating my own golf shirts. Gary Bracka created his own Ultimate Human Golf shirt through them, their quality's phenomenal. So, I'm happy to connect you with them for sure. They're great guys. They'll actually be involved with our toy drive, and I wanna thank you for being a part of that. December 11th, Thursday at Food and Thought 2, right off of Vanderbilt and Airport Pulling, from four to seven, and we're gonna be having a DJ and some great food, great people.

Your only admission is a new, unwrapped toy, and I love that you and I got an idea how we can help some of the girls out there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. Looking forward to working for that, and thank you. December 4th, we'll have the South before then, right? Could we get the South before then? Yeah, yeah, good. December 11th is the-- The 11th is the-- Yes. Okay, but we'll have the South before then. Don't worry, Zach's awesome, man. So, yeah, this is a great studio, man. Great Roberts of Philadelphia. My first time coming in, I'm so happy with my haircut, man. You're making the silver fox look good again. Yeah, you make us look good.

And I had a little alcohol last night, man. I had some tequilas and bourbon, so you're seeing the rough version, but when I walked a little rough, you got me all dolled up here for the show, man. So, thank again, you got Dave. Your bride is Lisa? Yeah, we always offer a pampering experience for our guests, wives or husbands or wherever they are. So, Marina, we'll set that up with you after, so that she gets to come in here and get the works, whatever she'd like to have done, and we'll give her a queen for a day experience. That's awesome. For us, absolutely. Whatever I can do for you, I have a feeling. God got you and I connected.

Look, you're getting credit for this, you reached out to me. So, I'm gonna be on this show, man. I can't wait to see it. I can't wait to tell more people all the stuff you all are doing, giving back. Again, together we can make a difference in our community. It isn't about one person. It's not about the spotlight for one person, one organization.

You, people like Lauren Maxwell, people like Derek Carlson, people like the company I work for, John and Wood Properties, been here since 1958. These type of companies, Alfeo, See the Table, and the list goes on and on and on. They, together, we all work together to help each other out. There's nothing we can't do. We're not perfect. And our county and there's people that have issues, still, that need our help. These kids in Immokalee need our help. The veterans need our help. Our first responders need our help. But I'm really thankful, man, to meet another like-minded person who feels blessed and you feel blessed. Oh, I do.

Who gives back all the time and how God works and, this. When you bless others, you get blessed. You can't do it like, let me do a backpack drive in Immokalee and if I do that, I'll get five more real estate deals. It don't work that way. Trust me, I've tried it. God, look at your heart. If you're doing something for wanting to do it, you get blessed. I'm sure you can attest to that. Yeah, well, I'm so, if we can do whatever we can for the people who are out there spearheading because there's people leading the pack and we just wanna be there to give them supplies and whatever they need to make that keep going.

I was preparing for this last night and reading up on the details of your life. And when I read this story about Cole

I had a day yesterday, it was a season of a day. It was things going on that were

Not the best days for me. And then I read this story about Cole and I was crying at my computer. I was so-- Yeah, sad. It was incredibly sad, hard, nine years old. But that was the one thing you wrote like that was on your mind and on your heart when you talk to Zach, this is what I wanted to, who you wanna help, who you wanna support. And this little boy had since passed at nine in this brain tumor that he had that literally-- So rare, man. Is untreatable. It is untreatable. They tried everything. That's why they kind of went in the red, which is why I worked for a fundraising out there, a family out there because they have another son.

Ryan McGinnis is a lieutenant with the Greater Naples Fire Rescue, he's a great guy. His wife's amazing. I went to the funeral for Cole, break your heart. But to hear the spirituality and the faith

Of the mom and dad and to see the whole family of Greater Naples Fire come out and support their own. So yeah, I'd love to get that flyer to you, maybe even put a poster board, there's a QR code on it. Every dollar goes to help them get out of the red. They tried everything they could that wasn't covered by insurance. They threw everything at this to save Cole's life. God had other plans. Cole's pain-free and cancer-free up in heaven. I just know that about it. It still breaks your heart, but God has a plan. But thank you for saying that. So if you want to help, anybody wants to help doing that, man, we got to help the McGinnis family. I'll never stop helping them out.

Yeah, we'll put the QR code here. I'll send it to you, the email we're texting to you now. I got your cell phone. Yeah, anybody. There's so many people who really want to give, want to help, want to support. Yesterday we had that woman who came in-- We were also bombarded by so much stuff. We are. What's good and what's not good. True. I tend to really vet these things, man. And I like direct. I don't like middle men. These big national organizations. With a lot of admin and-- I'm paying a lot of salaries. And you're making a bunch of money. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I give money-- On the court. It goes directly to the McGinnis family to help them out. Yes.

We give these toy drives. It goes directly from us to Pastor Arnie, to the kids at Immokalee. And I'll confirm that date. There will be a Saturday in December that we'll do the annual toy drive handout and to be out there for that with the thousands of kids and the families. And we do an activity scene and we try to show kids the real meaning of Christmas. Pastor Arnie, Arnie Coons, one of the greatest dudes ever. I'm gonna make sure we send that video to him. We're gonna connect you with him. You got a cell phone.

I love the fact that you wanna join us and Lauren Maxwell and the Maxwell Home Mortgage Team and Derek Carlson, Realty One and me and my team and John and Wood Properties. And the list goes on and on. But together, we're gonna raise a couple thousand toys for these kids. I love that you and I have an idea to help the nine year old, you're like 12, 13 year old girls. That's an awesome idea for a day of beauty here at Roberts of Philadelphia Salon right here in Bayfront. So we're gonna promote that and we're gonna make this Christmas so special. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, we're gonna make this Christmas so special for some kids.

And I think this idea you had will be even extra special because they've never had that before. So we're gonna take it up next level. Give them an experience they deserve and have them feel like they should. And it's whatever we can do. So anything else you think of, please know we're always there. Reach out anytime. Oh man, you and I, buddy, God got us connected, man. We're gonna do some great things. No question. I'm excited about that. I appreciate that definitely. I mean it, brother, I mean it. You're awesome, man. No, no. People are awesome, man.

I knew you had, I knew you had, I would tune in from time to time on 239

239 Live is the first time I've seen you. Oh man, it's a little crazy. Shout out 239 Live, Pat here. With Lois.

I'm gonna tell you right now, guaranteed, we're gonna get you on that show. As we draw near to this toy drive thing, they do mornings, their show's like eight to 10. They do a Wednesday, Friday morning, then they do a Monday evening one. So I'll make sure I give it Pat Jira and we'll get this clip and we'll get them, him and Ricky Haas, and we'll get you on the show and maybe I'll come on with you and we'll promote maybe Lauren Maxwell too and we'll really promote that toy drive. Yeah, great. Be great to have you. Whatever we can do. Lauren's this powerhouse. She's awesome. She saved my life.

They were buying a house during COVID and they stopped doing jumbo loans and so we didn't think we were gonna, we had already put the money down. We didn't think we were gonna be able to close. And Lauren, she figured out some miracle for us. She made that thing work. Give me this clip so I can send to Lauren. So Lauren saved my butt many a times. As a veteran, she really specializes in homes for heroes and all this program, first time home buyers. She's also a miracle worker. It's one of her business cards. She can say she saved your butt. She saved my butt many a times. That's awesome. Shout out Lauren Maxwell, her awesome husband, Dan.

Co-law, man, is a kick-ass county commissioner for his fight in the good fight. So yeah, we got some good, again, we are blessed. We have way more blessings than the negative stuff. But like you said earlier, and I heard you say it and you didn't go and you tell, but I still get those dark moments. I get set that doesn't run right. I have a bad day. Client wastes my time, backs out of a contract, whatever it is.

You can go down that path, man, and start getting dark and depressed and woe is me. Or you can say, f all that. Let me walk out here and just brighten up somebody's day. Let me go work on this toy drive. I think I'll have to begin as family. And I'm just telling you, when we bless others, we get blessed. So I love meeting somebody that's just

You and I connecting. I'm gonna walk out of this room and considering you a friend, I'm looking forward to some great things with you. That's my favorite part of this. And thank you for making me look good too. Yeah, no, no, absolutely. It's our pleasure. My favorite part of this is to get to have a conversation with a good soul that wouldn't happen in any other venue where I could be present with another soul for an amount of time with nothing else in the way. And we're not at a bar. We're not at a social gathering. It's just one on one. It's a really-- Good point. A special, it's rare.

So I am honored to get to meet a good soul, but really get to know a good soul because we'll have a bond now that will be special for the rest of my life.

Shout out, thank you to you, obviously to Zach, and also to Dave, who styled my hair man great dude. I wanna hook him up with a couple little things to help him on his journey back to health, man. Gives him H2 tabs from Gary Brecka and Cole Brecka and some things that'll be some game changers. Yeah, thanks. Thanks for bringing that spirit into the building too because you leave them with that and that gives them a level of life now. He goes into the day a new way, you having touch tips. You don't think he's gonna be happy at all of his, I mean, it's a domino effect, man.

We have to remember that every time you say hi to somebody and wave somebody, you let somebody over in traffic. Trust me, I'm always in a rush, but man, be courteous. Be that person that we wanna be our better selves and I'm just telling you, when we start doing it's a chain reaction. Now all of a sudden, you brighten my day, I go brighten my clients and my friends. Anyone I come in contact with, I'm on cloud nine because I got my nice haircut from Robert to Philadelphia, you and I had a great talk, I'm feeling good, my chest is out, I'm feeling good, veins are popping and I'm gonna go out and help five other people, but that's how it works.

Yeah, that ripples beautiful things. It does, man. God bless you for doing that, make me feel good today. Yeah, we do hair, but really, our role and our goal is, if we can make somebody experience a level of love that they're not used to, they feel loved, appreciated, honored, respected, that when they walk out and somebody cuts them off, they go, it's okay, you needed that space, it's all right. You could save a road rage. Yes, now we're set. Just that little bit of love. You'll live a lot longer with less road rage and more grace, for sure. Yeah, so if we can get that for a little bit. Grace is addicting, man, it's addicting. It is, yeah.

God bless you, man, thank you for having me on, this is awesome. An honor to do it. I'm building a musical playlist for the guests that come on, so I like to find out what it is that you listen to on your own zone or in the car. Glad you asked, so I was just with my buddy Ira Dean last night, I love all kinds. I'm actually a former radio DJ, DJ in college, DJ at the arts and parties. Yeah, I get it. And I love music, I love all kinds, but we're gonna, Ira Dean, I was with last night, he's from Nashville, he married a great girl, Jennifer Dean here in Naples, Florida, and I saw him last night.

He's currently torn with Brooks and Dunn, but he's written, remember during COVID, that song with Aaron Lewis, "Am I the Only One?" Yes. About the Taron statues, Dan and Brooke and Flag, that was co-written by Ira Dean. He's written some amazing songs, he's a well-known songwriter, he was the unofficial adopted kid of Johnny Cash and June Carter, had a great relationship with their family. His story's unbelievable, great dude, he's here in Naples now, more and more. He has an album that just came out called "I Got Roads." And there's a song on there with him and Gary Allen called "I Got Roads," and I'll play it right here for you live on the studio. Cool, that's great.

But you asked about my music, so if you're asking me, add this to your playlist

But the words to this

It's Gary Allen and Ira Dean, Ira Dean wrote the song.

And just listen to the words, man, it's freaking awesome.

So yes, this is the song I'm jamming to right now, it's about my life. I Get Behind, this song inspires me. They talk about all the roads we've been on in our life.

I'm on it all the time

About a million miles ago

So here comes Ira, this is the best line the whole song comes up. Some draw me to darkness Some show me the light

Some only leave me lonely The one I'm on tonight

I keep breaking down and getting lost

Here comes the verse.

So, great song, I Got Roads, Ira Dean.

So download that song, but that verse

Every sinner has a future and every saint has a past. And that goes back to all of us, from Donald Trump to the Pope to your priest, to your mom and dad, to you and I, we all got something, man. That's pretty freeing. All of us are imperfect and flawed. Yeah, yeah. It's not an excuse, Satan would tell you, "Well, you already messed up, "so messing up more is not gonna hurt." A little bit more is not gonna hurt. One more trip to the casino is not gonna hurt. One more trip to the strip club is not gonna hurt. One more time cheating is not gonna hurt. Yeah, it is. So you gotta make sure that, man, I got, there's a reason why we drive our cars. What kind of car do you drive?

Tesla. All right, nice. I got a Ford Bronco. But in your Tesla, in my Bronco, in every car out there, the windshield is this big. How big is your rear view, man? Yeah, tiny. Yeah, it's a little-- Because what happened yesterday, what happened yesterday, we don't matter. It doesn't matter. Satan wants us to focus on that. Yeah. Remember he did last month, last year, last summer? Yeah, yeah. No. Yeah. Kick Satan in the ass, get him off your frickin', get him out of your head, listen to Angel on her shoulder. You look at the windshield because I got so much in front of me, like those roads. Yeah. I got more road ahead of me, for sure.

So focus on that, man, not the rear view mirror, focus on how big that windshield is. It's really big in the Tesla. You got great visibility, because I can see all-- There's a lot of glass in there, yeah. And all that stuff is an opportunity to be nicer to somebody, to reach out to somebody you had a falling out with, especially between now and the holidays, it's a great time to reconcile. It's a great time to forgive. I love forgiveness, man. I require a lot of forgiveness because I've done stuff in my life that I'm not proud of. But man, go forgive somebody, go cheer somebody up and be that bright light.

And I'm telling you, it'll be the greatest holiday season you've ever had, guaranteed. It's so poignant. I'm thinking about that. You can never drive a car if you're just looking at the rear view mirror. No, you're a frickin' wreck. You can't drive that, wow. It's impossible. But we spend a lot of time in the rear view mirror in our lives. We do. We're looking back like we should've-- God, look at that windshield, brother. Yeah, yeah, that's really cool. I like that. But again, Ira Dean is an awesome dude, man. He's battled his demons. He's no alcohol, no drugs. He was the lead singer for Trick Pony. He's got some of the craziest stories in Nashville.

And he might be the best country singer, songwriter, you've never heard of. Like, he's blowing up now. And that whole album, the album's called I Got Roads. That's the title track. But he's got a collaboration with Gretchen Wilson, collaboration with Gary Allen, collaboration with Ted Nugent, Uncle Ted. Yeah, oh, yeah. Now he's got a great song with Ted Nugent. Ted and Shemaine, Ted texted me last night. They're great friends. We used to live here in Naples, Freedom Town, USA. We got Jim Brewer, comedian Jim Brewer lives here. We got some great people that live here, part-time or full-time, man, here in Freedom Town, USA.

So you never know that person he let in front of you. It could be a World War II vet. That's right. Could be a, look, I got Mark O'Lan. They're wearing a mask and a face shield in their Toyota Prius. And they've got a I Love Kamala Harris bumper sticker. You know what I need to do? What a guy want me to do? Let him in front of me. Yeah, yeah. No, I don't want to. Yeah.

It bugs me when I see people wearing masks in their car by themselves. (Laughing) It's stupid. But that's not for me. I got my own issues. (Laughing) Right, so, put focus on that and focus on being a better me. That's it.

Mike Tesla just got a new update with the latest version of full self-driving. And it's got this thing in it that I never noticed before. It now has almost this grace function where it knows when I'm at an area where there's a car that can pull out. Like the traffic has stopped, but there's an exit from it. And it allows people, it really, naturally, there's no option. It's really cool. It literally is now letting people in naturally. It's really, they wrote that into the software. Like it's with the latest update. I just reminded me of that when you said that. That's awesome. I don't ever have to think about it. It's like automatically saying after you.

Just lets it go like that. I love that. That's awesome. Zach, I'm gonna have you go into Spotify. I wanna start doing this when we do this. And Serenity NFL is my account. Serenity NFL, nice. Yeah, so if you'll look up that artist in Spotify right now, so as we go to each one, so I actually go live into the-- I got roads. I love it, man.

Now, I wanna make sure, I know I sent Pastor Arne that message.

What's the best, again, why don't you just, you wanna just text me or send me to contact him? Yeah, yeah, we'll send you everything. Yeah, yeah, I have that. I'm gonna talk to his cell phone just if I'm talking about the toy drive, I'll get me, you and Lauren. Yeah, yeah, yeah, put me in there. Text is easy. All good. And there's no pressure, man, like I said. No, no, no. If we, but I love that idea. We're like, what the hell do we do? For these girls, I frickin' love that idea. No, there's nothing I love to see more than their faces when they so deserve it.

And a lot of them only get one or two things and they are just like so blown away by whatever it is that goes in front of them. How long ago did Lauren save your butt? Just curious. COVID year, it was July of 2020. I mean, literally, we were gonna lose the house. I mean, she pulled out something that, she saved my ass. I will forever owe my life to that woman because she, she's a special person. Hey, I'm so tired of going places and it's supposed to be about me and the conversation turns to, swear to God, quote, "Lauren Maxwell saved my life," unquote. Remember this guy? Hey, beautiful. Hi, how are you? Awesome, thank you.

We're just having a Lauren love session over here saying how much, how many lives you save? Unbelievable. This is Robert to Philadelphia. So awesome thing, he reached out to me while I'm doing his podcast show right now, which I know he already wants to get you on the podcast.

You know, you're a little short, but he told me the story about Lauren Maxwell saving his ass with his mortgage. And so I said, she's got Miracle Worker on her business card. She saved my ass a few times too. Just unbelievable. But he wants to get involved with the toy drive. You heard you were involved with it with Pastor Arnie. But listen to this, forget toys. He wants to do for 20 or 30 girls. Remember I already said it's hard to get toys for girls like ages nine to 13. He goes, "Why don't we do a Day of Beauty here where they can come in, get a scalp massage, get a thing, get like a whole deal." He wants to do that. That is amazing. So they'll get certificates.

So I'm gonna get Arnie, I got goosebumps.

Yeah, just get Princess Day. I'm bringing lunch for the girls. If you like have it, let's just say I don't,. Yeah. Yeah. I'll bring in lunch for everybody. Dude, that's pretty awesome. Oh, beautiful. Oh, that'd be awesome. They'll have a full Princess Day. That's like the greatest idea ever because there's always a struggle. Everybody wants to buy bikes and toys and guns and Nerf guns and balls, but girls don't like any of that stuff. So what do you get a nine, 10, 11, 12, 13 year old girl? Right? So that's freaking awesome.

He's got Lorenzo Walker, interns here. Like he's doing awesome stuff, man. He's one of us. He's a Patriot. He's a good dude. So anyway, he's just singing your praises. I'm like, this is so crazy how God connects all of us.

So yeah, so we're gonna do his toy drive together. And then hopefully, but yeah, he wants to have you on his podcast show too. Of course. I'm making a match. She's doing a studio in her new office. I can't wait to see it. You were telling me about your new building there. Maybe you can help me decide. You need to get him on there. His story is good too. We were talking about how people were telling me before I came on the show, I did a little due diligence. I'll let you go out here busy. Robert to Philadelphia during the hurricane, it was Irma or Ian in like 17, 18, they were offering free shampoo for people that didn't have water and power.

Like that's the kind of people that you and I, like that's what you do, right? Lauren Maxwell, biggest heart in the world.

Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you for saving another miracle worker story about Lauren Maxwell. Yes. We love you girl. Love you Lauren. Okay, see ya. Bye. Bye bye.

Love her. Best heart ever man. So I'm telling like.

Yeah, she says do this. I say, Don, she says do this. Whatever she said to do, I did and it works. That's awesome. Just trust me and I trust her and she makes shit happen man. She's a, man, she is the fricking boss period in the story. She just gets shit done. Yeah, no nonsense. Yeah, she does. When every door was closed, every door was closed. There was no way out. I just saw your socks man. Yeah man, I wore these special today. In honor of you brother. That's awesome. That's awesome.

Yes, yes, this is your week and well, every week is your week but it's very special that we have you on the week of Veterans Day and, because I think they should be honored every fricking day, not just one day of the year but of people who serve for us and, I love that. I never do anything for you., I got these weighted vest, I showed it to David, but these weighted vest, I mean you burn extra 800 calories a day for what you do. I like that. They're black, they go with black. That's cool, that's sharp. Yeah, you got the ROP look on you there too. Listen to Gary, I copy Gary because Gary's always black pants, black jeans.

Yeah., he has an ultimate human t-shirt and then this weighted vest and I've got another guy that actually owns a company and they're like 300 bucks man but they're just, they look good. Like they make workout vests. It's sharp. You wear it, they're real fitness but this is just for men. They make a boardroom vest. There's a gray one and a black one and they just are fricking cool. It's sharp, it's good looking. They wash her up, they build a little bit of muscle but they're also, I'm burning, I mean I've been sweating. You should wear black anyways if that shows sweat. I'm not sweating sweating but I'm sweating a little bit. We're all burning 800 calories additional.

Just doing a normal day. That's cool. Shooting a podcast, going to a real estate listing, whatever it is. Yeah, that's cool. Pretty cool. I like that. If you ever want one, I'll get you one. Yeah, I'm gonna put me down for one. I have three more questions for you. Oh, I'm sorry, you have no words. Three more that are just sort of our routine. Please, you got it. We're in the world of fun here. So we got your music and go to books or podcasts. You talked about them a little bit but what's one that you put on the top 10 list?

Wow. So by the way, I'm just gonna video here, man, with these guys, Robert of Philadelphia. I don't know, be a guest on the show. Look at this guy. Hey. Big crossfire. I'm honored to have you, brother. We got Zach back here behind the scenes. He's a crossfader. Stay tuned, man. We got some great clips coming out, great positive stuff for Freedom Town USA. Stay tuned.

So podcast is easy. I mean, Gary Brekke, The Ultimate Human and there are phenomenal ones on there. I mean, I learned so much stuff. I like Joe Rogan and I like Jaco, former Navy SEAL guy. He's written books about kids. Like he wants boys to remember to be boys, to be warriors, to be Knights, to be champions at an early age and learn that's okay to be masculine. Toxic masculinity is an okay thing. Cause toxic masculinity means a real man he provides for his family. He's loyal to his wife. He holds a door open for women. He holds a door open for a World War II vet. He's a protector. So that we-- And there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with that.

That's a good thing. If you wanna break down America or break down society, you break down the family unit. We lead the world in divorces and then you start telling men to be softer and more less alpha and you want women now to be lifting weights and doing more of a managed job. And this is role reversal. No, we need to get back to toxic masculinity, man. So I listen to podcasts and anything related to that, anything military history channels, one of my favorite channels. I just love watching the history channel about all the, not just military stuff, but mostly military war stuff, strategies. The Art of Wars were my favorite books.

That's awesome. Yeah, man. So a lot of strategies that you can apply to anything in life from that book. Okay, all right. We got your list down. How about your go-to coffee order? Go-to coffee order would be at Starbucks. It'll just be at Americano and I just throw in some, again, don't go oat milk. I just got a regular whole milk and some sugar. But my go-to coffee, if I can get it, is Dunkin' Donuts, man, extra large coffee, just two creams, two sugars. Their cream there is special. This is good coffee, man. I do like their coffee with coffee. This is good coffee.

Normally, full disclosure, when I drink coffee and I don't drink coffee much, I gotta have some of those artificial, cancer-causing, frickin' sugar filled creamers. I'm on a hardcore black, I could drink black coffee if I had to, if I'm doing a fast, but not my go-to. Yeah, yeah, okay. That only became mine because my father

The later years of his life, he was a tough, old-school Italian who busted my ass my whole life. Is your namesake after him? Yeah, junior, Robert Delano, junior. Okay, you're Robert, okay, you're Robert, okay. So he was a tough, stayed that way my whole life. And I sort of luckily reconciled that was a good thing he was doing for me. He wasn't just busting my ass. He was looking out for the best for me because he put me through some times that I was like, why, why are you, it never ended, it was never good enough, it was never, but in a good way, now I'm so grateful for that.

In the last years of his life when he was sick, he would say, he would want me to come over to talk and he would send me a cup of espresso, a picture of a cup of espresso, said we'd have espresso on his back deck and he was still smoking until the day he died. He'd have a cigarette and espresso and we spent our time there. Well, the year after he died, we put espresso machines in all the salons. So every time we have a cappuccino and espresso, we're honoring pop up in heaven. So that's sort of like became my go-to with that. So that's where that came from. All right, next time I'm here, I'm gonna have an espresso with you. Yeah, you gotta do it, please.

If you weren't what the many hats you are and many hats you wear today, fire commissioner, realtor, giver of the community, what do you think you'd be doing today?

Well, again, I mean, we came this close to, at day one from not even being here. So every day is a gift.

I think my dream

Who doesn't dream about being like in the movies and being the actor, I think I would have maybe ran a shot, not that I wanna be anywhere near Hollywood, but I would have maybe given it a shot at a younger age, trying to get into movies, whether it be stunt or acting.

My son's got a degree in finance from FSU, but he had a minor in film and he's written some scripts and we're just big movie maniacs. So in an ideal world, maybe being on in a show

Being on the Sopranos, being one of those characters that everybody remembers 20, 30, 40 years from now, whether it's Tony Soprano or Christopher Molestante or Paul Lirane, those guys, Silvio. But those guys are entrenched in my brain because, first of all, one of the greatest shows of all time. No doubt. That show and Breaking Bad came out where you actually root for the bad guy.

You root for the guy making meth, you root for the mob boss that has people killed. And James Gandalf Feeny, one of the greatest actors, I think ever. No question. So anyway, in a perfect world, if I wasn't doing real estate and fire commission stuff, in a different world, I would have probably tried a shot in the acting world.

Yeah. Cool. Yes, sir. Well, if your son moves back, he's home right now, man. So we're figuring things out. He's, my son's figuring things out on his own. Mom and dad want to help him, but he's a learn to figure things out. He can come to us and ask. My son Cooper's a good dude, but he's, he worked on a movie in Orlando for about five weeks and he started at the bottom, production assistant, small film in Orlando. He met through a friend of his. He worked his butt off. They had him at 6.30 a.m. till nine o'clock at night, Monday through Fridays. He loved it. So we're working on some things right now.

And if he comes to dad and said, "Dad, do you have any connections?" But right now he needs, at 22, 23, they need to figure things out on their own. And trial and error is part of life.

Trials and tribulations, part of life. He'll figure it out. When he needs help, we'll be there. Yeah, well, Cooper, if you're ever interested in doing a little collab with Zach and our team here, because he's got that film background. Yeah, he does. He's written five scripts. Yeah, if he's done some script. Do some short story fun stuff. We're always open to playing around with that. Awesome. He's actually meeting with a guy today through an attorney friend of mine had a client with a story. And I can't mention the story, but the story was so crazy and so incredibly true and nuts that we think there may be like a Netflix documentary show.

So he's meeting with Cooper to potentially write that up, we'll see. And lots of people, Gary Breca, one of my best friends, is tight with a lot of, from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to Leonardo DiCaprio to Mark Wahlberg. And Gary partnered up on their Cold Life, Cold Plunged Tubs. So there's connections there if needed. But again, I think, don't fish for somebody, teaching the fish, let them fish for themselves. I've taught my son to fish. He needs to go learn and go catch it on his own. Yeah, well, he's-- He'll figure it out. He's in that creative young space to be able to do some little short story fun stuff. Might be kind of cool.

I'm just thankful he's a good kid, right? He's drinking, he doesn't drink alcohol and he doesn't smoke or drink, but he's on these things, cradems. Yes. This cradem stuff is like, I don't even know all the ins and outs, but I think it gives you a buzz like alcohol. I don't know enough about it, these Kava Bars, but these Kava Bars are popping all over the place. And it's like, I don't know, but that's his one vice, I guess, is his cradem stuff. I don't know good or bad, I'm not saying anything good about it, but I gotta figure that out because that's like the next generation. They're all doing Kava, they're all drinking cradem.

And I grew up drinking Budweiser and tequila and vodka, so we gotta figure that out. It's pretty different, I've tried it. It gives you a different effect on you. Okay, good or bad, be honest. I thought it was pretty good. It tastes horrible. The taste of it is really bad because you really have to over sweeten it, but I have to add it without sweetener. But it was an interesting

I've experimented with a lot of things over the years of my life. It was-- There's some that can get you up, there's something that gets you down. There's like a upper form of what they're into. It was a white and a red. I don't know all the ins and outs yet, but I think my son takes the one that just mellows you out, the mellow one. So, because I think he has it in the evening times before he goes to sleep, so anyway. Just trying to figure that out. I'm the same, he's in that-- How old's your boy? He's 30. And he's just been experimenting recently with those two. Trying to figure shit out? Yeah, yep, that's it. They do their own way.

That's my boy for the record, I'm 57, and I was still trying to figure things out. Yeah, right, me too. The journey in every day, man. Yeah, I know less now than I thought I would back then, so it's all right. Always, always-- I guarantee you that. Your dad's smiling his ass off down on you all the time, man. Not that you're always perfect, but I can just tell, man, that you are your dad's son and all you want to do is make him proud. So, I can tell you, I can see, I can sense it. Yeah, well, thank you. I get a good judge of people and-- Thank you. This is great, man.

I'm excited now, collaborating with you, me and Lauren, for the toy drive to make those girls in a mockly, make them a special Christmas. I'm excited to collaborate with you and get you a 239 Live. I'm excited to maybe-- I would get Lauren Maxwell on your show, because that would be great. She's got a huge following, man. She is so beloved in this community. She's a real gift. Number one mortgage person, but that's not why people love her. She just is such a giver. She's awesome. Yeah, she's a good soul in all ways, and a lot of staff she's helped out. She has. Circumstances that are just unusual. A miracle worker. She finds a way. She does. And she does it without--

Just with ease, too. Her calmness. During one of the most stressful times of my life is what saved me. She had this just even keel way about-- Wow. Lauren Maxwell, even keel? She just knew-- well, she just knew it was all going to work out. I didn't, especially during COVID. I was like, banks are saying, see, we don't want anything to do with you. But not Lauren. Lauren was figuring it out. That's awesome, man. I'm glad we called her a banger. Yeah. I'm glad we have this relationship now, too, for our girls, because we have to do this more. Just getting started, brother. Yeah, man. Last question. Yeah. What do you love about your life?

Everything.

From being here alive, when my life could have ended back in 1968 in a garbage can in DC at an abortion clinic, to being adopted by some awesome-- my parents, my mom and dad, and how my life trajectory changed.

Being raised old school like you were, so we know the value of hard work. We never give up. We never surrender.

And then fast forward to now, whether it be the blessings of being married to my best friend, to having an amazing son, to having an amazing daughter, to having two amazing grandkids. You and I both have very similar stories when it comes to that, which is wild, to being healthy, to having a great real estate business here for over 20 years

To being with one company the whole time, John Over Properties, to having the friends that I have and the connections I have. I would tell you, I live each day. I get out of bed. I give thanks to God for a good night's sleep. And I feel like I'm a walking, talking, living miracle. So when you really believe that and feel that, everything else is just gravy.

Doesn't mean I have dark moments. Doesn't mean I don't get mad. Doesn't mean that I don't do bad things sometimes. Doesn't mean that I don't sometimes have thoughts of hurting other people. What it means is it gives me pause before I do something bad. They go, hey, man, remember, God did what He did for you for a reason.

Earn it, own it, and then pay that forward. So that just plays back into where I said, I'm going to go be a light in a dark world.

We certainly are that. Yes, sir. Appreciate you. God bless you, brother. God bless you, too. I'm so happy you're here. This is my life now. I really am. Back at you. I feel the same way. We met for the first time today. And we're already collaborating on Tori Drives and helping kids out and future podcasts and waiting vest and all kinds of cool shit. Yeah, I feel like we've been brothers for a long time. Yes, sir. I feel so. Catching up now. God bless you. I really do. Yeah, appreciate you. Do it more. You're awesome. I appreciate you. I'm going to get more of you, too.
